Cristiano Ronaldo, one of the greatest football players ever, made headlines recently for his fiery conversation with British journalist Piers Morgan. Ronaldo had a lot to say in the two-part, 90-minute interview, from criticizing Manchester United's lack of progress to praising his arch-rival Lionel Messi. The second portion of the interview, which was made public on Thursday, also included remarks by Ronaldo regarding a circumstance involving Lionel Messi that would lead him to decide to hang up his boots.

Ronaldo was presented with a fictitious scenario by Piers Morgan. The British reporter said: "In the FIFA World Cup final, Portugal will face Argentina. Both Lionel Messi and you have scored two goals. You score the third goal in the 94th minute to complete your hat-trick, giving Portugal the World Cup victory."

Ronaldo laughed at the notion and remarked, "It's too good." The veteran Portuguese player went on to say that even if his team scored and they won the World Cup, he would still be the happiest player on the field.

In response to Morgan's query, Ronaldo stated that if such occurs, "he will finish football, will retire."

Ronaldo also discussed his appreciation for Messi, who, along with him, has been the most dominant player over the previous 15 years or so, in the interview.

"He is a fantastic athlete. Magic. Top. We have been on stage together for sixteen years. Think about 16 years. I therefore get along well with him "In the interview, Ronaldo stated.

"In the sense of a friend who visited you at home or spoke to you on the phone, I don't consider myself to be his friend.

"It's not a teammate, but it's close. I genuinely respect him because of the way he usually talks about me. Even though they are both from Argentina, his wife and my wife, my girlfriend, always treat them with respect.

"Argentina is home to my girlfriend. Very good. What will I say regarding Messi? a fantastic guy who contributes greatly to football."

Ronaldo said he wants to play until he is 40 when it comes to his eventual retirement plans.

"I want to continue playing for another two or three years. therefore no more than two or three years. At 40, I want to be done. I believe 40 will be a fantastic age, but I'm not sure because I don't know what the future holds "said he. The life is dynamic, and you never know what's going to happen, therefore sometimes you plan one thing for your life.

Ronaldo has already begun working out in Qatar with the Portugal national team. However, he won't be able to play in the game against Nigeria. The storied forward is eager to add another prize to his collection despite also acknowledging that this may be his final World Cup.
